as i am driving down the tollway, in rush hour traffic, listening to 'Annie' belt out a tune on the dvd player...my phone rings. it's my sister. she is bursting to tell me about my niece's funny comment. this ought to be good. my niece is not your average kid.

apparently, out of nowhere, this 8 year old pipes up with "Mom, Daddy met Lindy [current wife] on the internet, maybe you should go on ebay and find yourself a man."

ehhh, what? hmmm...how did you...eh...what??!!

so after i stop laughing and wipe my eyes i think 'hmmm, i wonder?' i just had to turn on the computer and get on ebay. maybe the kid knows something. it was worth a look-see, i figure.

how do you search for a man? what search terms do i use? i tried the obvious... MAN...but got a lot of male underware hits...not sooo bad, especially after i saw the pictures. ok...MALE DATE...this produced all types of watches for sale. the closest i was able to get was an instruction manual for $165 on becoming a male escort. that has got to be one interesting read. :)

so, i guess my sister cant buy herself a man...but she could get a how-to-guide on becoming the perfect male escort. easter is coming up. could make a lovely gift for that special someone.

i swear, i LOVE kids. life would be so boring without them.

road trip update | dallas child photographer

we have had a request to head out to Hilton Head and set up shop for a couple days...i am not opposed to this, or to traveling anywhere really. just email me or call and the same holds true for your location as for my crazy, summer road trip. i need at least 4 sessions lined up to justify a stop.

Herd of Birdz is thinking of taking to the open road this summer...and we might stop in your area! We are tentatively planning a crazy-four-week-stop-at-every-quirky-road-side-attraction kind of trip and thought, "Hey! We could actually justify this if we book sessions along the way!"

We have received enough phone calls and emails asking us to travel and shoot that we thought this could be the year to do something fun.

So, this is what we have so far: leave Texas in July. Travel to Roswell, New Mexico for the Alien festival (cool!). At some point along the way, stop in Southern Utah & Northern Arizona. Then...Vegas baby! San Diego, LA, San Francisco and everything inbetween. Portland, Oregon, Seattle and then on to Park City, Utah.

I need to have at least 4 sessions booked in your area to warrant pulling off the road and I will likely book no more than 6 or 7 sessions at each stop, because hey, there is the 'World's Largest Gopher' and the 'Famous Pink Dinosaur' to experience. If you are in, around or anywhere close to these areas and are interested in having us take some of the grooviest pictures for you, send me an email or give me a shout and we will start the planning.

these kids were so great. the day was perfect, clothes were "wicked cool" as my four year old said, and the designers were so much fun to work with. they have such a groovy concept and i look forward to working with them again. thanks to all

you know, every time i take a stand and swear on the life of my favorite shoes that i will not neglect my blog ever again something comes up, weeks fly by and my blog collects dust. then my insanely supportive clients, almost clients, family and friends start emailing me to gently request an update.

i knew coming in to january and february that the first few months of the year would be my "slow" months. this is the time to re-vamp, to rest, to prepare for the upcoming 'photography season.' maybe to show some extra love to my blog. well, after an amazingly busy fall/holiday season we took a much needed break and fled to the mountains of utah. after we rolled back into town and i was ready to start the wait for spring, the phone started ringing.

our pictures were featured on the cover of 2 magazines, we have done sessions with new and returning clients, we had an enormous response to our first ever attempt at a mini session and...i am so excited to share with you our new project...shooting for children's clothing lines.

just look at this fun, whimzical fall taste from this amazing designer. i just cant say enough about her. check out her site. LOVE IT! i know, we just survived christmas, but it will be fall before you know it and after seeing what is to come from this line...i can't wait. once we finish with this line, i will certainly post more. i dont think i can keep all of these cutie-pies to myself.

then, on the heels of this line, we will start shooting for another designer that i know you will just love! she has such a unique concept...so, thank you to all of my blog-gazers for your continued support and endless patience while i strive to keep posting images amidst our craziness.

if the past couple of months is any indication, this year is going to be an action-packed yet amazing year. we are already staring to book for may, so if you want a session this spring i have a few march and april dates left.

not your average mini session | dallas child photographer

note to self...create a new blog. sizing issues on this blog are frustrating. i know, i know, there are scores of you out there who make it work...but then there's me. :)

on to more important things...mini sessions!! i really cant wrap my mind around a mini session. if you have ever had a session with me you know full well that we have way too much fun to accomplish the "experience" in a 15 minute mini session. but so many of you have inquired, urged, hinted and nudged for a mini session...hmmm what to do?

i was sooo excited to learn that one of "my" kids was receiving an 'awesome achiever award.' i knew she was awesome but now everyone else will see as well. how cool is that? WAY TO GO kiddo!! :)
